1883 season 2 has officially been renewed and will now focus on the legendary lawman Bass Reeves. The Yellowstone prequel series' first season followed James Dutton (Tim McGraw) and Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill) as they lead their family and a group of various migrants along the rough terrain of the American West toward Oregon. Created by Hell or High Water writer Taylor Sheridan, 1883 was initially intended to conclude following its final episode. Sheridan has also expanded the Yellowstone franchise with two additional spinoff series - 1932 will yet again be a prequel to Yellowstone and will center on a new generation of Duttons set during the Prohibition and Great Depression eras. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as set to star as leads in the upcoming series. 6666 is a direct spinoff of Yellowstone and will feature the legendary Texas ranch the Four Sixes in a modern setting.
Reeves was the first black deputy of the U.S. Marshals serving west of the Mississippi River. Born into slavery in 1838, Reeves escaped his owner during the American Civil War and lived with a few indigenous tribes. In 1875, he was later recruited as deputy to preside over multiple territories that housed large populations of Native Americans due to his ability to several of their languages. During his time, Reeves arrested over 3,000 outlaws and killed 14, allegedly without ever suffering any serious injury.

Per Deadline, the Yellowstone spinoff series 1883 season 2 has been officially renewed and will focus on Bass Reeves. The show began as a Sheridan project, unaffiliated with the Yellowstone franchise, with Selma lead David Oyelowo set to star in the titular role. With
