Nintendo has released an extensive new gameplay trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The video debuted during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on Wednesday, along with confirmation that pre-orders have opened today.
Following the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo also confirmed that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will retail for $70.
In addition to the standard version, which will be available at a suggested retail price of $69.99, a Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition will release at a suggested retail price of $129.99, and includes a physical version of the game, an artbook with concept art, a Steelbook case, an Iconart steel poster and a set of four pin badges.
Nintendo wrote: “In this sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the mysterious islands floating in the vast skies above.
“Can you harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom?”
Alongside today’s new trailer, Nintendo has released 27 new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom screenshots.
In June 2021, following two years without any meaningful updates, the platform holder released a new Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 trailer and confirmed plans to release the game in 2022. It was later delayed to Spring 2023. It was finally given its official title, Tears of the Kingdom, earlier this year.
The new Zelda game reportedly grew from DLC ideas for the first Switch game that took on a life of their own, so while it should expand on what players have seen before, the base is likely to be similar.
