Released in 2023 in Japan, the rest of the world has been waiting with bated breath to find out when it would be able to play Ys 10: Nordics and continue Adol Christin's journey. The announcement of a western release has now confirmed when our journey will continue. Well, it has given us a vague release window of when that journey will continue. Confirmed for PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch, Ys 10 will be here sometime this fall.
NIS added that the latest game in the series will also be getting a limited edition when it releases outside of Japan, although details were even thinner on the ground than the release date in that regard. The studio simply urged Ys fans to stay tuned for more information, presumably on what exactly will be included in its limited edition version. Fingers crossed the devs have gone all out and we'll be getting physical goodies as well as in-game extras.
Not only does Ys 10 reunite fans with Christin, but it also adds new character Karja Balta to their story. Again, very little information on what exactly we should expect from the new character, but we do get a first look at them in the trailer which you can check out below. Apt that Balta is a pirate and the trailer showcases a lot of seafaring as apparently a significant chunk of the game will take place aboard the Sandras, Balta and Chritin's ship.
Hearing that a series is about to get its tenth installment can be a little intimidating and turn you off before you've even given it a chance. While this unfortunately isn't a Final Fantasy situation where every game is effectively a standalone series, Ys 10 may well be a good jumping-on point. Despite its name, Ys 10 is set after the events of Ys 2 which launched more than 30 years ago. Try Nordics when it launches later this year and go from there if you enjoy it.
