Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) are confirmed to still be together, but Young Sheldon just hinted that they could split up after The Big Bang Theory. The couple had a tumultuous dating start as both were hesitant about acting on their mutual attraction. Eventually they got together, and despite a big break-up, they eventually patched things up, got married, and at the end of The Big Bang Theory, won the Nobel Prize in Physics. But, their marriage bliss might not last forever.
Bialik returned to the CBS prequel for another voice cameo, marking her second appearance. Amy made her first guesting stint during the Young Sheldon season 4 premiere where it was revealed that she and Sheldon share a son in the future named Leonard Cooper. In her latest involvement on The Big Bang Theory spin-off, she's recruited by her husband to talk about certain things that affect a relationship. There is some fun and innocent banter between the pair, which is always fun to hear, but it also hints at the real status of their relationship, and it isn't looking good.

In Young Sheldon season 5, episode 16, «A Suitcase Full of Cash and a Yellow Clown Car,» the pair talks about intimacy. Amy says that it can be a problem for couples, «especially when one doesn't want to be intimate as frequently as the other.» She's clearly referring to her own marriage, but Sheldon's oblivious about it, even having to ask who his wife is talking about.
