Showrunners for Showtime's newest hit series Yellowjackets offer an update on season 2.Yellowjackets tells the tale of a talented high school girls soccer team who become the survivors of a plane crash deep in the Canadian wilderness. The series began airing in November of 2021 and immediately captivated audiences with its twisty and wildly varied plot lines, including a Senate race, seances, murder, and cannibalism. Yellowjackets' season 1 finale aired on January 16, 2022.
With the almost immediate success of Yellowjackets, Showtime was quick to renew the series, which has been greenlit for season 2 since about halfway through its ten-episode run. This, of course, is good news for fans, as Yellowjackets season 1 ended with many questions left unanswered — and one major death. Now, fans have nothing to do but speculate on coming events and wait as patiently as they can for a Yellowjackets season 2.

That said, fans can take comfort in knowing that plans for Yellowjackets season 2 are already in progress. In a recent interview with Variety, Yellowjackets' showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson give an update on season 2's progress. Lyle states that the writers' room has been opened, and that «a couple of new faces» have been added to the mix. She also reveals that, new faces aside, the writers «largely have the team intact from season one.» Lyle does not offer any teasers for the upcoming season, but says that all the writers were «excited to dig in,» even if they are «still in the early phases.» See her full quote below:
