Police in Clayton County, Georgia recently rescued a 13-year-old girl who had allegedly been kidnaped and sexually assaulted by a 33-year-old man she met while playing Roblox. The suspect in question, Howard Graham, seems to have convinced the girl to run away from her home in Topeka, Kansas in order to meet him. Graham then drove the victim to Clayton County.
Roblox is a hugely popular game with an active player count in the hundreds of millions. The developer aims to "bring the world together through play." The game has been the subject of controversy ever since it was released over a decade ago, some of which has to do with sexual content including the infamous “condo games” that involve inappropriate interaction.
Captain John Ivey of the Clayton County Police Department said that “we’re truly lucky we found this young girl and she was alive.” Ivey went on to say that “I wish people would pay more attention to what their kids are doing,” adding that “predators will go on and prey on little kids.”

Ivey explained that Graham had met the girl on February 18, 2022. She left her home to meet him only a few days later on February 20. The victim eventually began to feel uneasy about the situation, sending a message to her mother on February 24 which included the address of a Dollar General where she had been taken. Graham was arrested at his workplace following a short investigation on March 1. Ivey noted that Graham had sexually assaulted the girl “many times” by this point. The suspect has been charged with kidnapping, sex trafficking, and rape.
“We were deeply saddened to hear about this case,” Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Roblox William Nevius remarked.
