Microsoft has announced Xbox’s November update, which is rolling out today.
Headlining the update are new Discord features, with players now able to join voice channels directly from their Xbox console.
To do so, players need to open the guide, go to Parties & chats, then select Discord. From there, they can scroll through their available Discord servers and pick a voice channel to join.
They’ll see a preview their friends who are in a Discord server and voice channel before joining.
Microsoft said noise suppression in Discord voice chat has also been activated on Xbox Series X/S, which should result in clearer audio when connecting via new-gen consoles.
“This feature blocks background noises like barking dogs and clicking keyboards while continuing to clearly transmit your voice. If you prefer your audio unfiltered, you can turn it off in the Discord call Options section.”
Following several months of testing, Microsoft made Discord voice chat available for everyone on Xbox consoles in September.
November’s Xbox update also introduces wish list gifting and sale notifications. They provide alerts when players share their wish lists with others, as well as notifications confirming when someone has received a gift. Players will receive alerts when items on their wish list go on sale too.
Microsoft said today’s update introduces a new Captures app offering “improved viewing, management, and editing” features. These include increased bit rate for playback of 720p and 1080p clips on Xbox Series X/S, and the ability to copy game clips and screenshots directly to an external drive.
