Perhaps not wanting to make any announcements on April Fools' Day, Microsoft decided to wait to announce the new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022 until Tuesday, April 5, at which point it confirmed 10 titles coming to the service in various capacities.
As announced by Microsoft, the new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022 are kicking off with Cricket 22 and MLB The Show 22 on cloud and console. MLB The Show 22is a rather significant addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup because not only is it a day one release, but it's also published by Sony. Due to Sony's licensing agreement with MLB, it has to release its critically-acclaimed MLB The Show games on other platforms, and Microsoft has used this opportunity to secure the game as a day one release.

April 7 will then see the release of another day one game in the form of Chinatown Detective Agency across cloud, console, and PC. Otherwise, April 7 is going to be used to add EA Play games to the Xbox Game Pass cloud. For the uninitiated, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also get access to EA Play benefits, and starting April 7 they will be able to play EA-published games like Dragon Age 2, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and Star Wars: Squadrons on the cloud.
