Microsoft is ending its Xbox 360 free Games with Gold program this month, but the service is going out with a bang. For nearly a decade, Microsoft has been giving Xbox Live Gold subscribers two free Xbox 360 games almost every month. The Xbox 360 is two generations old at this point, though, and so it's understandable that Microsoft is looking to move on. September 2022 will mark the last time that Xbox Live Gold subscribers are treated to a free Xbox 360 game with their subscription.
The Xbox free Games with Gold games for September 2022 consist of four titles. From September 1 to September 30, Xbox Live Gold subscribers are able to claim Gods Will Fall for their collection. September 16 to October 15 will see Double Kick Heroes made available, while original Xbox game Thrillville is up for grabs from September 1 to September 15. One of the Xbox free Games with Gold games for August 2022, ScourgeBringer, is still available to claim as well, with subscribers having until September 15 to claim it. The final Xbox 360 free Games with Gold game is Portal 2, and it will be available from September 16 to September 30.

Portal 2 is really one of the best ways for Microsoft to send off the Xbox 360 free Games with Gold games as it's one of the highest-rated games ever released for the console. It has a 95 average rating on Metacritic and stands tall as the eighth highest-rated Xbox 360 game according to the review aggregate site.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the game, Portal 2 is a direct sequel to the breakout hit
