Warning: contains preview images for Marauders #1!
Fever Pitch, an X-Men villain from the 1990s, has been resurrected with a horrific twist. In a preview for Marauders #1, the new Marauders track Fever Pitch to Wyoming, hoping to invite him to Krakoa. Yet, when they find the mutant, they learn the horrifying truth — that he has been converted against his will into a destructive weapon. The issue is on sale April 6 in print and digital.
Fever Pitch first appeared in 1999’s Generation X #50, created by Jay Faerber and Terry Dodson. Much like the Human Torch, Fever Pitch can manipulate flames, thanks to his mutant powers. But when his powers first manifested, it disfigured him, and over the years the flames ate away at his body, eventually giving him his distinct, fiery-skeleton appearance. Fever Pitch fought not only Generation X, but other mutants, including Iceman, as well. Fever Pitch survived M-Day, only to die at the hands of the Sapien League, who caused his powers to overload, seemingly killing him near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Now, Fever Pitch has returned from the dead, but something terrible has happened to him, and the Marauders must try to stop him before he kills countless innocent people. The issue, the first of the title’s new volume, is written by Steve Orlando, drawn by Eleonora Carlini, colored by Matt Milla and lettered by Ariana Maher.
