Mutants, humans born with the X-gene that causes the development of powers typically around puberty, have historically been alienated from the population because they're deemed dangerous. So, in the MCU's world of already existing heroes treated as celebrities, people are curious how the mutants' lore will fit in.

While it seems intriguing, commenters point out that they wouldn't even need a secret society to be kept separated from the rest of the world. Instead, they would only need small numbers to stay hidden from most people.
