A new fan comic from Nubia & the Amazons writer Stephanie Williams and artist The Kodo shows a hilarious and brilliant multiversal crossover between the worlds of Marvel's X-Men and ABC's Abbott Elementary. The comic is a part of Williams' But What If Though? series, an ingenious ongoing webcomic that remixes classic Marvel and DC characters with iconic movie and television franchises.
Abbott Elementary is an uproariously funny mockumentary sitcom created by comedic genius Quinta Brunson, who starred in A Black Lady Sketch Show, that was a breakout hit of the 2021 season, quickly becoming a critically acclaimed show and being picked up for a second season. Abbott Elementary follows Brunson's character Janine and the other passionate teachers, as well as their wildly tone-deaf and inept (except at partying, making TikToks, and branding) principal Ava, as they advocate for and educate their young, mainly Black students at an underfunded public elementary school in Philadelphia. And, it turns out, motivate the creation of the first But What If Though? in more than a year.

Stephanie Williams has had a very busy year, co-writing the critically acclaimed Nubia & the Amazons with Vita Ayala, followed by Trial of the Amazons, the recent Nubia Coronation Special, and the upcoming new series Queen Nubia. While William's ongoing webcomic series But What If Though? has been on hiatus for over a year, the lifelong X-Men fan clearly could not resist the urge to create her brilliant new comic «BRB,» merging the X-Men and Abbott Elementary universes.
