The gacha from Chinese studio Kuro Games is aiming to rival Genshin Impact with its open world backdrop and colourful anime cast, and has been enjoying enormous marketing attention both across Asia and around the world since its reveal. But with HoYoverse's hits commanding significant attention on PlayStation platforms, many have been wondering: can you play Wuthering Waves on PS5 and PS4? Wuthering Waves' initial release date is 23rd May, 2024 on iOS, Android, and PC — but the previously announced PS5 and PS4 versions remain undated. At the Unreal Fest convention in Shanghai late last year, the Guangdong-based developer confirmed it had PlayStation versions in the works, boasting that the PS5 build would be on par with the PC version running Ultra graphics settings.
However, in an interview at GDC, a spokesperson for the studio said it's «still working on» the PS5 and PS4 editions, and thus they'll launch at a later date. We'll continue to contact Kuro Games and try and get a concrete release date out of the studio, but for now, if you don't want to miss out on any events or rewards in the game, we'd recommend starting your journeys in the iOS, Android, or PC versions. It's highly likely saves will transfer across all builds.
As part of Wuthering Waves' onboarding process, you'll need to make a Kuro Games account, or link one of your existing accounts with the game. This means your progress will be saved server side on the cloud, and thus you'll be able to transition between different devices using cross save, presumably including PS5 and PS4 versions when they eventually deploy.
