As a fan-favorite member of the X-Men, Wolverine is the best there is at what he does. Meanwhile, his fellow Avengers member, Captain Marvel, is widely considered to be one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Both heroes are incredibly impressive on their own, but many fans may not realize that they share a longstanding history as one of Marvel's strongest friendships.
Despite their radically different powers and backgrounds, Logan and Carol have far more in common than fans may realize. As former government agents, Carol and Logan fought alongside on another long before either donned the colorful costume or catchy codenames as Avengers or X-Men. And when either one was in a pinch, the other would always come running.

After the events of Avengers Annual #10 by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden sees Carol left amnesiac and powerless, the former Avenger turns to Professor Charles Xavier and his fellow X-Men for help restoring her memories. While her past is never fully restored to her, she remains with the Merry Mutants through many adventures, and her shared military history with Wolverine is revealed along the way. The heroes are established as old friends and comrades-in-arms having worked together for years in special forces alongside SHIELD Director Nick Fury.
When Carol is captured and imprisoned by the KGB, Wolverine even disobeys direct orders and goes to rescue her himself alongside their old friend, Michael Rossi.
