On Windows 11, Microsoft Paint is getting a new paint job
Microsoft is consistently rolling out updates for its apps in Windows 11. It has released new updates and bug fixes to the latest OS. Windows 11 release date has been scheduled for later this year and it will then arrive in a stable form for everyone. It will bring a UI refresh, support for widgets, integrated Teams and more. Now, the company has revealed that it is also updating the MS Paint app.
Windows and Surface chief Panos Panay took to Twitter to share a video showcasing how MS Paint will look in Windows 11. The updated app will ship to insiders “soon.” From the video, we can tell that MS Paint is getting a UI refresh and a dark mode. However, it doesn't reveal any new features. Looking carefully, you'll see that the "Edit in Paint 3D" button has been removed.
Microsoft recently rolled out updates to several of its apps linked to Windows 11 OS - Snipping Tool, Calculator, Mail and Calendar. The new Snipping Tool includes new visuals that build off the classic app with added functionality like the WIN + SHIFT + S keyboard shortcut from Snip and Sketch and richer editing. Pressing the key combination will bring up the snipping menu with options to choose from including Rectangular Snip, Freeform Snip, Windows Snip, and Fullscreen Snip. When you take a screenshot, the Snipping Tool will provide editing tools for annotations, improved cropping, and more for editing the image.
Similar to MS Paint, the Calculator app also recently received a dark mode. Windows 11's Calculator app will now let users analyse equations on a graph, and evaluate algebra, trigonometry, and complex math expressions.
