Before Crisis: Final Fantasy 7 is not among the many upcoming additions to the FF7 Remake universe. However, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is in development and will include a wide range of material from the original FF7 universe instead of the remake's universe. It also means that players probably won't be seeing a Before Crisis: Final Fantasy 7 remake anytime in the near future, but they shouldn't feel that loss too keenly when Ever Crisis releases.
Before Crisis: Final Fantasy 7 is a mobile game that was released in 2004, but never made it to the West. Players control one of Shinra's Turks through a series of missions that take place years before FF7 as they work against Avalanche to stop them from summoning Zirconiade and wiping out human life. While players will run into quite a few of the main FF7 characters throughout this journey, it isn't necessary for understanding FF7 orFF7 Remake.

The overwhelming number of titles makes it difficult to know the best order to play the complete FF7 series. With the upcoming remakes, knowing which titles are needed for the story and which ones are extra is even more difficult. Luckily, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis will help solve that problem with the original FF7 universe by consolidating a lot of the story content into a single game. Ever Crisis is also the reason that Before Crisis most likely won't be seeing its own remake anytime soon.
