Even though Fortnite’s Zero Build proved to be a success among players, the team over at Epic Games made the decision to bring building back into the battle royale title. Following the release of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, building mechanics were taken out of the game, rendering players unable to create structures, which has been the core gameplay mechanic for the title since the very beginning. Some fans may consider the move to be a bold one; however, doing so has increased the title’s popularity and brought back players new and old.
With the option to build removed, new mechanics such as an overshield have been added in order to ensure that competitors don’t get eliminated easily in a firefight. With the new building changes in Fortnite, new methods of traversing the map, such as sprinting and mantling, must be utilized in order to succeed in the Zero Build Mode. Players no longer have to worry about building and editing skills when engaged in a fight as everyone is now put on a somewhat even playing field.

While the removal of building in Fortnite proved to be beneficial overall to the game, there were some fans who were disappointed as they felt that it was what made Fortnite feel like Fortnite. Two weeks after its disappearance, building was brought back into the game alongside a tweet from Fortnite Games encouraging players to “Play Your Way!” On the game’s Twitter page, many players expressed their feelings toward the two modes causing a discussion about which one was better than the other.
