Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, and here's why he left AEW in order to return. Rhodes of course began his career in WWE, seeing success as both a singles and team competitor, but always seeming to hit some type of ceiling. While Rhodes earned fans and had good matches, WWE didn't seem to see him as anything more than a solid mid-card talent, not the main event star he thought he was capable of being. As a result, Rhodes left WWE when his contract expired in 2016, and set out to prove himself.

Needless to say, Cody Rhodes today is a much different level of performer than he was when he left WWE.
