Jane Campion's Western film The Power of the Dog is set in rural Montana in the 1920s, despite being filmed on the other side of the world. The setting of the Netflix movie is a character of its own, with Benedict Cumberbatch's Phil bonding with Peter (Kodi Smit-McPhee) over being able to "see the dog" in the landscape of nearby mountains.
