When is EFT's Next Wipe?

The last EFT wipe introduced many new changes to the game. When will the next reset occur in 2023?

It's been days since the last Escape from Tarkov wipe, and players are slowly starting to grind their levels and items again. The recent reset also came with a new patch, introducing an additional map for players to enjoy. While gamers are already focused on regaining their progression and Tarkov Items, some are already wondering when the next wipe will be.

What is an EFT Wipe?

Escape from Tarkov implements wipes several times annually to reset the progression of everyone in the game. EFT prides itself on being a real hardcore tactical FPS game, and items and perks in this genre significantly make your gear stronger. Wipes are considered resets for the game, which means losing your progression gear.

Resets are done to allow newbies to engage with veterans on an even playing field since starting in a game where others already have powerful items is unfair. These wipes allow players with Tarkov accounts to start fresh. There is no better time for newbies to get into the game other than a fresh restart.

When is the next EFT Wipe?

Fortunately for players, the next reset won't happen for a while. While there is no official announcement yet, we can speculate the next wipe date from how Tarkov implements them. Here are all the dates of the previous wipes since 2017:

Based on the previous resets, the average interval between each wipe is around five to six months or 150 to 200 days. Since the most recent one occurred in late December last year, we assume the next one will be sometime in July 2023. This time frame gives players enough time to grind to their heart's content till the next reset. However, gamers should stay updated if the developers want to make an earlier wipe. 

The Recent Wipe

The latest reset before the end of 2022 came just in time for devs to introduce a new map to the game. Patch 0.13 various new content from a new area to additional guns and skills. There were also other improvements to several other features, especially to the Co-op PvE mode. Here are all the significant updates from the recent patch: 

• Streets of Tarkov – the new map covers a chunk of the intersection of Primorsky Avenue and Klimov Street. These areas have various POI that players might want to visit soon. These places include Abandoned Factory, Pinewood Hotel, News Agency, Concordia Residential Complex, Car Dealership, Terracot Business Center, Cinema, Sparzha Supermarket, and other minor structures. Developers did indicate that these areas will be improved further in the coming months.

• Light Armor – gain reduced mobility penalty, max durability loss when repairing, and damage from melee weapons on armor hit when you have this skill at higher levels.
• Heavy Armor – gain reduced mobility penalty, max durability loss when repairing, and damage to armored parts by blunt attacks when you have this skill at higher levels.
• Reworked Charisma – influences insurances, extract prices, replacement of operational tasks, Scav Box price, and healing services.
• Repair Kits and Enhancements
• Standard or rare improvements can now be carried out on weapons, body armor, and plate carriers if they are fixed with repair kits.
• Players can now unlock enhancing items after reaching level 10 in Weapon Maintenance or Light Armor and Heavy Armor.
• Rare enhancements can only be used at the elite level.
• Skill level dictates the chance and strength of regular upgrades.
• Characters take reduced damage depending on the enhancements on body armor and plate carriers.
• Weapons can now have both Malfunction chance and Accuracy increase enhancements.
• Enhancements will only be active up to a certain durability and disappear after repairing the equipment.
• Transaction prices are now affected by Enhancements.
• The repair point amount is affected by Intelligence.
• Respective skills will alter the mad durability loss when using repair kits.

Wipe Announcements

Since there are no official announcements for the next reset, players should wait for further details from the devs. There won't be any patch notes for this topic in quite a while, considering that there was a recent wipe. Players have a long time to collect and upgrade their Tarkov items until they need to redo their grind.
