Nintendo has announced the first details of what will be included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass Wave 4.
Set for release this spring, the DLC pack will include eight courses, the first of which has been revealed to be a brand-new track called Yoshi’s Island.
It will also introduce Birdo as a playable character. Birdo first appeared in the Mario Kart series as Yoshi’s partner in 2003’s Double Dash.
Nintendo said on Wednesday that returning characters from the Mario Kart series will also be added in future waves.
Priced at $24.99/£24.99, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass will include 48 DLC tracks across six waves, all of which will be released by the end of 2023.
Players who subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack receive access to the DLC as part of their subscription.
The third wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC was released in December. It included classic tracks such as Boo Lake from GameBoy Advance and Maple Treeway from Nintendo Wii.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is Switch’s best-selling game. Nintendo said this week that as of December 2022, it had sold 52 million copies.
That puts it ahead of Animal Crossing: New Horizons (41.59m), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (30.44m), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (29m) and Pokémon Sword/Shield (25.68m).
