@Pizzamorg Interesting viewpoint. Some things I agree with, some I don't.
I already mentioned in the TV thread how I'm playing TLOU in sync with the tv show and so far it's been an amazing experience.
First of all it makes me really appreciate the tv show more. They translated so many locations and scenes perfectly from the game, without making the show seen devoid of character. More than anything, when I recognize dialogue, it makes me go «that's a nice callback to the game».
Part 1 on PS5 is just gorgeous. It's a bigger improvement from TLOU Remastered when you're playing it than the devs were able to convey through trailers and screenshots. Agree with pizzamorg in that it's a job well done.
I would even go a bit further though. I think the game feels extremely modern still. Had I not played TLOU twice before I could easily being fooled into thinking this game just came out this year. In comparison to most games I play the animations and overall presentation are way above what over devs are able to do.
The gameplay holds up surprisingly well too. If I'm honest it's the gameplay moments (like the sniper, the first bloater fight,etc.) that I remembered best from my earlier playthroughs. I put the difficulty on hard (probably same as TLOUR) and am really enjoying every encounter.
In many games I'm either always looking forward to the next cutscene or the next combat encounter, because often these games only manage to do one of them right, but in this game I'm really enjoying this perfect balance.
It's the most fun I had gaming in quite a while. I might have to bump this game up to being my favorite Naughty Dog game, instead of Uncharted Lost Legacy.
