After Digital Extremes announced that it would be closing its publishing arm and concentrating on in-house projects, Wayfinder developer Airship Syndicate took ownership over their game and committed to development. With Wayfinder in Early Access, the team is previewing the big December update, while also pausing Seasons for the time being.
The team continues to work on the transition, including working to get the ability to update on PlayStation and restore cross-play. As for updates, the team continues working on them, and we can expect content during the transition. However, they’ve decided to get out of the season framework, at least for now.
“We are pausing our Seasons as we go ahead and reassess our release calendar. This doesn’t mean that content is drying up, in fact the opposite. We won’t be sticking to a seasonal “wrapper” for content and instead can release things faster when we believe things are ready for players vs waiting to put everything under the season banner.”
Airship Syndicate originally had a stream planned to discuss the status of everything, but they decided to scrap it until they had something more solid, as shared in the game’s Discord:
They’ve also begun previewing their huge December update, which has over 2,000 changes, from bug fixes to new additions. These previews will be lasting over the next few weeks while the team continues to work on the patch and get it ready for release in December.
Among the changes coming in the update are a series of performance and UI improvements, a rebalance of weapons and stats, new customization options, and the ability to start earning cosmetics in game. They’re also reworking Senja.
