2017's The Dollhouse takes a very unique look at the Child's Play franchise, and the odd family the killer doll has amassed around him. The original concept for Child's Play was dubbed Blood Buddy and featured a young boy whose doll comes to life when he mixes his blood with it. The doll becomes the embodiment of the boy's subconscious rage, taking bloody revenge on those who have wronged him. Director Tom Holland later reworked the idea and made it about a serial killer who transfers his soul into a doll called Chucky.
The 1980s gave birth to several horror icons, including Freddy Kruger, Pinhead and Jason Voorhees. Chucky might be one of the most unlikely, but the franchise is still going strong over three decades after it launched. What's even more unique is that — barring the 2019 remake — the Child's Play movie franchise has featured most of the same cast and crew since it began. Creator Don Mancini wrote the first four movies before directing every subsequent entry, while Brad Dourif has continued to voice Chucky.

This particular retrospective was made by Kyra Elise Gardner, the daughter of Tony Gardner, the puppeteer who brought Chucky to life in several entries. He was even killed onscreen by the doll in Seed Of Chucky (which was rejected by Universal). The Dollhouse is an ode to Kyra's personal connection to Child's Play and the family that's formed
