An Activision employee recently revealed that Verdansk will be returning to Call of Duty: Warzone in some capacity. The current Warzone Caldera map, while having some shortcomings, has proven to be popular with fans, although many still feel nostalgic about the original Verdansk map.
As a live-service game, Warzone is constantly seeing changes, updates, and the introduction of new pieces of content. These patches come through a seasonal model which tends to take into consideration the release of mainline series releases like Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Perhaps the biggest change to the battle royale game came in the form of Warzone Pacific, which replaced the sprawling, war-torn Verdansk with the tropical Caldera map. This has opened the door to all sorts of new content, including new guns, events, and Operator skins based around this new theme and setting. Even though there were concerns regarding new maps and Warzone's file size, the developers at Raven Software managed to greatly shake things up with Caldera.
