NeocoreGames have announced that a next-gen version of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is in the works. The action RPG was initially released in 2018 across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and is often compared to the Diablo series.
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is an isometric shooter set in the Caligari Sector in the 41st century. Players take the role of one of four Inquisitors who are tasked with scouring space to destroy rebels and dissidents who are set on opposing the God-Emperor’s rule and succumbing to the Chaos Gods. The game features a rich solo campaign, or players can choose to team up with three additional players in a co-op mode.

The PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X/S version of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is set to release in 2022 and includes a host of new features to make use of the enhanced power of the latest console generation. Much like previous PS5 and Xbox Series X cross-gen titles, the game will boast a native 4K output, as well as higher resolution textures and enhanced shadows, which is perfect for showcasing the high-intensity action.
The enhanced version will come bundled with improved physics, including improvements to destructible environments. For players planning on picking up the game on PlayStation 5, Warhammer 40,000 will also utilize the features of the DualSense controller. Gamers who own the new systems will be able to play with teammates through a cross-gen multiplayer mode, although it is unclear if this will stretch to cross-play.
Currently, neither Neocore Games nor the publisher, Nacon, have yet to confirm if Inquisitor will be a free next-gen upgrade or if players will have to pay to play the new version.
