Warhammer 3 Is Already The Second Biggest Total War Game On Steam
Total War: Warhammer 3 is having a fantastic debut on Steam. Just after launching on February 17, Total War: Warhammer 3 spiked at 166,754 players, the second-highest concurrent player count of any Total War game except for 2019's Total War: Three Kingdoms (which almost hit 200,000).
As noted by PCGamesN, this comes despite Warhammer 3 being review-bombed in China. Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad provides context on Twitter, confirming Warhammer 3 didn't have an official release in China but still received promotional support on Chinese-speaking websites.

With Total War: Warhammer 3 being its biggest and best game of the trilogy, developer Creative Labs targeted its promotions to hit a far wider audience in China than previous entries in the series. This meant early access codes were sent to more popular streamers than just Total War fans, and some of those streamers didn't treat the franchise with respect as a result. Some went as far as to spoil the game's story or just acted generally disinterested in the game they were being paid to play.
Despite the review bombing (which has left the game with a "mixed" rating on Steam), Total War: Warhammer 3 is still having quite the successful launch amidst critical acclaim. Our own Harry Alston gave Total War: Warhammer 3 a four out of five score, praising the improvements made to graphics and gameplay, although he noted it might not be the best game to onboard new players.
