AMC’s Walking Dead spinoff announcement completely ruined one of the final season’s biggest plot points. In the midst of The Walking Dead season 11 part 2, AMC confirmed that a series centered on Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is in development. Titled Isle of the Dead, their show will take the two characters to New York City.
Expected to release in 2023 presumably after the conclusion of the main show’s final season, Isle of the Dead is poised to become the sixth television series in The Walking Dead universe. Sometime after season 11 ends, it’ll be one of four shows active in the franchise, with the others being Fear the Walking Dead, Tales of the Walking Dead, and Carol and Daryl’s untitled spinoff. With Isle of the Dead, the Walking Dead universe will deliver a six-episode story that sees Maggie and Negan encounter all sorts of threats when they end up trapped in Manhattan, unable to get back to the mainland.

The fact that Maggie and Negan will be teaming up at all is a major Walking Dead season 11 spoiler. Ever since she came back in season 10, whether or not Maggie will get her revenge on Negan has been one of the show’s biggest questions. It was at the heart of The Walking Dead season 11 part 1 and is likely to be brought up again whenever Negan reemerges. But ahead of whatever conflict that’s coming in future episodes, AMC has already answered this burning question. Obviously, Maggie won’t be killing Negan in season 11’s ending. Going to New York City doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll become friends, but it does imply that they’ll reach some sort of peaceful resolution.
