Batgirl will introduce Barbara Gordon to the DCEU, starring Leslie Grace as the titular heroine and returning J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton to their respective classic Commissioner Gordon and Batman roles and it had been listed as a 2022 for a long time, with major sites still retaining the 2022 date. Even with a move out of that, not using Michael Keaton's Batman return as even a brief chance for added fan-service is a strange move.
Batgirl will adapt the classic Batman character, Barbara Gordon, to the DCEU, as well as showcase the franchise after the events of The Flash. With Ben Affleck exiting the Batman role in The Flash, the film will end with Michael Keaton replacing him as the Dark Knight, seemingly melding elements of the Burton and DCEU timelines together. Although Keaton’s new version of Batman will likely only play a supporting role in Batgirl, the film will provide fascinating information about the new DCEU that Barbara Gordon inhabits.

Although the exact Batgirl movie release date hasn't been established, it was set to premiere on HBO Max in late 2022 and it was assumed warranted a nod given the DC Comic-Con panel's focus on Warner Bros' next upcoming DCEU projects. While the Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam trailers were undeniably exciting, the lack of Batgirl content was strange in light of its release window.
