With Samsung and most other brands announcing their Android 13 update rollout schedule, it was time for Vivo to make some announcements. Vivo, which sells phones under its name and also under the iQOO brand, has announced the FunTouch OS 13 update, which is the next iteration of the FunTouch OS 12. The update will introduce Android 13 to these devices and this is all you need to know about it.
FunTouch OS 13 is still a custom Android skin based on top of Android 13, and there are a couple of modifications as well as updates from the actual experience. The update will be available for beta testing to users, and Vivo flagship phone users can already test it out. The beta will also open for most iQOO users starting November 2022.
From the Vivo portfolio, the Vivo X80 series, Vivo X70 series, Vivo X60 series, Vivo V23 series, Vivo V25 series, Vivo T series and Vivo Y series devices will get the update. iQOO will release the update to its iQOO 9 series, iQOO 7 series, iQOO Z series, and even the iQOO Neo 6. Sadly, the iQOO 3 will miss out on the update, which was the company's first phone in India.
With FunTouch OS 13, the major updates come in the form of app pinning which simply prevents someone else to look at other apps, enhanced control through iManager app, and a new stability ring in the viewfinder for taking still photos.
Vivo is also bringing some cosmetic changes to FunTouch OS 13, starting with colour coordinated icons that you can find in Android 13. The interface largely remains the same as before but system apps get a major design refresh. There are lots of new additions to photo and video aspects, mainly including editing tools, ability to hide certain photos, and more.
Note that Vivo is only rolling out the beta
