New fan art imagines a scenario in which Tom Hardy's Venom dunks on Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man during a basketball game. The last few years have seen Sony lean into its more villainous properties as the studio expands upon its newly established Sony Spider-Man Universe. 2018 saw the release of Venom, which introduced Hardy's Eddie Brock. The character then received his own sequel last year in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Following the somewhat anti-climatic release of this year's critically-panned Morbius, Sony turned its attention to other upcoming SSU releases, including Venom 3, Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web.
The return of Garfield's Spider-Man in last year's Spider-Man: No Way Home has since sparked various discussions as to whether his Peter Parker could be the SSU's Spider-Man, with Tom Holland's Spider-Man currently occupied in the MCU's Sacred Timeline. Having first appeared as the beloved web-slinging hero in 2012'sThe Amazing Spider-Man, Garfield returned for its subsequent sequel in 2014, before his scheduled third instalment was scrapped by Sony. With Spider-Man: No Way Home having left many hoping to see Garfield return to the Spider-Man role full time, a new piece of fan art now imagines a unique crossover.
