Throughout the month of February US game revenue reached $4.4 billion, a 6% decrease year-over-year according to the latest NPD data.
Consumer spending for the month on hardware declined by 27% year-over-year to $295 million when compared to 2020.
Among game systems, the Nintendo Switch was the number one selling platform for units and dollars. Meanwhile the Xbox Series systems came in second in the same categories.
For software, Elden Ring debuted as no.1 for February's sales charts whereas Horizon: Forbidden West premiered as second. Pokémon Legends: Arceus fell to third place after being the top selling game for January.
Accessories spending decreased by 7% to a total of $180 million when compared to the same period in 2020. The Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller is the top-selling accessory for the second month in a row.
