Warning: contains SPOILERS for Metal Lords.
While Netflix's Metal Lords is a relatively straightforward coming-of-age heavy metal comedy, there are still some things about the ending worth explaining further. Kevin Schlieb (Jaeden Martell) and Hunter Sylvester (Adrian Greensmith) are high schoolers trying to get their band, Skullf**ker, into Battle of the Bands. Tensions build when Kevin finds a cellist player, Emily Spector (Isis Hainsworth), who he thinks would make a great addition to their band.
The movie is directed by Peter Sollett, who also directed Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and is helming the upcoming Minecraft movie that was postponed indefinitely. Metal Lords is embued with heavy metal references, from Hunter's poster-covered home practice room and "PWRSLVE" license plate to cameos by heavy metal icons like Tom Morello and Rob Halford. Written by D.B. Weiss, half of the Game of Thrones showrunner team, Metal Lords may help forgive the Game of Thrones ending along with Weiss and David Benioff's upcoming Netflix show Three-Body Problem. As simple and formulaic as Metal Lord's premise is, it still exudes passion.
