Good news for UPSC jobs aspirants! The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced an increase in the number of vacancies this year making more than 1000 spots after six years. Basically, UPSC has issued a notification announcing that the number of notified vacancies has been increased from 861 to 1011. An additional 150 positions have been added to the civil service exam for the recruitment of Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Group 'A' officers. The last time UPSC announced more than 1,000 vacancies was in 2016 when 1,079 job postings were made available.
According to the notification, 150 personnel for the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Group 'A' through the Civil Services Examination 2022 will be recruited. As a result, the Government (Department of Personnel & Training) has issued a notification incorporating the IRMS, Group 'A' into the list of Services for recruitment through the Civil Services Examination-2022. Six of the 150 vacancies in IRMS have been designated for people with benchmark disabilities (PWBD).
You need to note here that, previously, the Centre had announced in 2019 that the inclusion of IRMS in civil services would be ended. Therefore, the IRMS test was previously conducted through the engineering services exam. In addition, the Ministry of Railways announced in December 2019 the unification of eight existing IRMS services at all levels, ranging from junior scale to HAG+. However, different procedures were supposed to decide on the same, as the notification specified that the Ministry of Railways and DOPT will work together to carry out the necessary formula for the recruitment.
