During a Nintendo Direct live stream in September 2021, the voice cast for the untitled Super Mario Bros. movie was announced with Chris Pratt leading the way as the voice of Mario. While fans have been trying to visualize what Mario will sound like with Chris Pratt’s voice, fans can now see what a live-action version of Mario would look like when portrayed by the actor.
Initially set to release in late 2022, the Super Mario Bros. movie was pushed back, giving fans even more time to come up with their own take on Pratt’s Mario. Content creator Re-Imagined Games has taken on the task of creating a realistic Super Mario Bros. with the title character resembling Chris Pratt with nearly identical results. The realistic Super Mario Bros. projecthasbeen in the works for months, and the trailer which was released this week shows Pratt wearing the signature overalls, red undershirt, and Mario cap.

Using the Unreal Engine, Chris Pratt is brought to life as Mario, leaping over Koopa Troopa shells, breaking blocks, and even throwing fireballs. The iconic first four levels of the original Nintendo Entertainment System game are featured with working pipes and power-ups included. The Re-Imagined Games version isn’t completely 2D, with players having the option to run around certain elements, adding a little more realism to the game.
Re-Imagined Games noted that it doesn’t have any prior experience in game development, making this massive undertaking all the more impressive.
