Unity
Today Unity announced that it has acquired technology company Ziva Dynamics.
The engine maker said that with the purchase it aims to make digital character creation tools more accessible to artists and platforms.
Ziva Dynamics was co-founded in 2015 by James Jacobs, Jernej Barbic, and Chris Godsall.
Its software has gone on to be featured in games such as Marvel's Spider: Miles Morales, Ninja Theory's Suna's Saga: Hellblade II, as well films such as Godzilla vs Kong and Jumanji: The Next Level.
"Creating digital humans that meet the quality and natural dynamics needed to truly satisfy our minds can be a complicated and painful effort, requiring both expert knowledge and extreme perseverance," said Unity.
"Ziva Dynamics is solving that problem. The Ziva team has deep expertise and understanding of complex anatomical simulation and real-time artistry tools."
The purchase of Ziva Dynamics follows a number of companies that Unity added throughout 2021.
The engine maker acquired 3D data handling company Pixyz Software, environment developer SpeedTree, remote desktop streaming tool creator Parsec, VFX platform Weta Digital, and collaboration tool maker SyncSketch.
