UK court blocks CMA attempt to block Microsoft hearing
pcgamesinsider.bizA UK court has blocked the Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA) request to delay its hearing with Microsoft.
As reported by Seeking Alpha, the Competition Appeal Tribunal has said that proceedings will still be starting on July 28th as previously said. It's anticipated that the trial will take six days.
"We consider that the CMA has not paid sufficient heed to the true public interest in this case – which is the swift resolution of Microsoft’s Notice," the Competition Appeal Tribunal wrote in its opinion.
"The CMA has chosen to re-visit a matter already decided (namely, an end July/early August hearing and not an October hearing) when there has been no material change of circumstance. Furthermore, the CMA has made this application indefensibly late, with no explanation."
The CMA revealed in April that it was blocking Microsoft's $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
