After over a decade of dormancy, the Rayman franchise seems to be showing signs of life again. After starring in an expansion for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope last year, it seems Ubisoft’s platforming mascon is also getting his own game.
A recent leak claimed that a Rayman remake was in development at Ubisoft Milan, and that series creator Michel Ancel was serving as a consultant on the project, with his involvement raising concerns for some in the development team due to past reports alleging toxic leadership issues.
Now, Ubisoft seems to have confirmed the same in a statement. In a statement to journalist Stephen Totilo (which he shared on Twitter), a Ubisoft representative has stated that the company’s Milan and Montpellier studios has “recently started an exploration phase on the Rayman brand”, and that the project in question (whatever it is) is “still in the early stages”.
The representative also confirmed that Ancel is indeed consulting on the project in order to “ensure consistency within the universe”.
Of course, this isn’t an explicit confirmation that a new Rayman game (or a remake, as the leak alleges) is coming, but it is very strong indication of the same, at the very least.
