Uber wants to be your new party planner: The ride-hail and food delivery service is branching out into events and entertainment with its new Explore tab.
Whether showing friends around town or enjoying a date night, chances are Uber users open the app at least once. When you do, Uber Explore will be there to provide recommendations for food and drink, art and culture, nightlife, music and shows, and other "experiences."
Users can easily browse and book live events, dinner reservations, and "other fun activities" while checking reviews, photos, and directions. There's also Offers, which gets you 15% off your rides up to $10 for now.
The experience includes one-click rides to your chosen destination, suggestions based on past use of Uber and Uber Eats, fluctuating deals, and Uber Wallet & Payment options. "We use your favorite places to go and things to eat to suggest the best places to explore in your city automatically," Uber explained.
Explore is rolling out first to 14 US cities (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New Orleans, New Jersey, upstate New York, Orlando, San Antonio, San Francisco, Seattle) and one international location (Mexico City). Keep an eye out as more regions, events, and experiences are added.
Uber has expanded its repertoire before, adding on-demand flower delivery and Christmas tree drop offs, as well as the ability for drivers to adjust reservations based on passenger flight information.
