True Detective: Night Country has officially cast Jodie Foster's partner for the long-awaited season 4 of the popular HBO crime series. Originally created by author Nic Pizzolatto, the crime anthology show first aired in 2014 and followed Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as detectives investigating a series of murders across two decades. Following an immense amount of critical acclaim, the show was renewed for season 2 and starred Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrel, and Taylor Kitsch. Although the season was not as well-received as the first, season 3 was ordered with Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff as partners haunted by the disappearance of two children.
In February, season 4 was officially announced following a three-year hiatus with Moonlight director Barry Jenkins as an executive producer and Issa López tapped as the drama's showrunner. She replaces Pizzolatto who will no longer be contributing to the crime series in a writing capacity. Fear the Walking Dead and Shining Girls writer Alan Page Arriaga has also joined the writing team for season 4.
