HBO has revealed the official plot synopsis and title card for the fourth season of True Detective.The next season of the award-winning anthology series will be titled True Detective: Night Country and is set to star actress Jodie Foster and professional boxer Kali Reis.
Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid) will serve as showrunner, director, writer, and executive producer. Foster is an oscar-winning actress known for her roles in critically acclaimed films such as Silence of the Lambs and Taxi Driver. Reis is a world champion professional boxer and indie movie actress who is known for starring in the IFC film Catch The Fair One.The film premiered at the Tribeca film festival last year and was met with critical acclaim, earning Reis a nomination for Best Female Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards.

«We are tremendously excited to return to the True Detective franchise and to be working with the multi-talented Issa López, whose singular vision for her Night Country installment will be beautifully realized with Jodie Foster and Kali Reis in the starring roles,» said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming. “When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace," reads the official synopsis. «To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.»
