Call of Duty: Vanguard Season Two introduced an array of content to the game, such as new multiplayer maps and weapons for Zombies fans. Another highly anticipated feature arrived with the new season: ranked play. This mode allows you to show off your skills with a competitive rule-set applied. When you are playing a ranked play match in Vanguard, there is nothing more frustrating than a player quitting the game. It turns the competitive experience into a game you would rather not play. With a player down, it can leave you in an impossible situation which makes the match difficult to win. However, you may not have to worry about this much longer. It has been confirmed that quitters will soon receive a penalty in Call of Duty: Vanguard ranked play.
The news came out of a response Treyarch made on Twitter to a curious fan. The person in question asked for an update on punishing players for leaving ranked play matches by joining someone on their friend list. In response, developer Lawrence Metten stated that disconnect penalties are on their way. Also, Metten went on to explain that there are talks about further SR adjustments for players they know are intentionally leaving matches.
If penalties are added for quitting a ranked play match in Vanguard, it’ll be more likely that players will think twice before leaving a match. It’s especially true if a significant punishment toward SR is made, and progress is lost.
Vanguard‘s ranked play is still in beta form, so it’s still very early in its life cycle. However, it is promising to see that Treyarch is trying to improve the competitive experience for players. Although there is still work to be done, penalties for quitters in Vanguard ranked play is a huge step forward.
