Uncorroborated rumors suggest that an all-new PlayStation State of Play broadcast will go live sometime this week; however, these alleged plans could change because of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This particular rumor follows on the heels of another from XboxEra host Nick Baker who recently claimed an unannounced March 2022 State of Play stream could unleash quite a few notable pieces of news. Unsurprisingly, pundits and fans alike speculate that such a show may finally unveil the release date for Santa Monica Studio's eagerly-anticipated God of War: Ragnarök.
Sony hosted the most recent State of Play stream on February 2, offering a 30-minute, Gran Turismo 7-centric deep dive for Polyphony Digital's latest racing sim. But a major presentation filled with new reveals and the like hasn't come out of Sony HQ since the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase, which saw the company lift the veil on Marvel's Spider-Man 2 andWolverine from Insomniac Games. This particular showing also marked the first time that fans were treated to footage of God of War: Ragnarok in action. If another PlayStation Showcase of signficant importance is on the horizon, fans of the brand could be in for a treat.

Reportedly, Gamereactor (via Zhukov-74/Reddit) has spoken with four reliable sources familiar with Sony's operations, each of whom claim the publisher intends to host a State of Play broadcast this week. Gamereactor, apparently, learned of such news last month but held off on sharing specifics because developers involved with the showcase have asked Sony to delay the stream amid conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
