Hollywood star Tom Cruise is apparently interested in making a new project involving his Tropic Thunder character, Les Grossman. For those just catching up, Cruise's role as Grossman--a satirical take on a foul-mouthed, hot-headed Hollywood producer--was one of Tropic Thunder's most memorable bits.
Deadline reports that it's unclear if the new project would be an entire movie focused on Grossman or a cameo of some kind in a different project. You can watch all of Grossman's scenes from 2008's Ben Stiller-directed Tropic Thunder in the video below, and yes, it includes the memorable «literally f**k your own face» line.
A new Les Grossman project is one of a few new endeavors that Cruise is plotting. In addition to the next Mission: Impossible films, Cruise is being shot into space for a movie, while he is also working on an «original song and dance-style musical» of some kind. Another project is an «original action film with franchise potential,» the report said, though it had no further details.
According to the report, Cruise has been interested in making a musical for a long time already--he would sing and dance in the film, the report said. Additionally, Cruise would be a writer for his upcoming projects alongside his longtime partner from Jack Reacher and Mission: Impossible, Christopher McQuarrie.
Cruise's latest movie is Top Gun: Maverick, which recently surpassed Titanic at the US box office and now ranks as the seventh biggest stateside box office success in history. Worldwide, the movie has made $1.352 billion.
Cruise is a three-time Academy Award nominee, picking up nominations for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, and Magnolia.
