Long time fans of Tim Drake, the third Robin, were ecstatic when he came out as bisexual in 2021, and with the recent announcement by DC Comics that they would be releasing DC Pride: Tim Drake Special in June 2022, Twitter once again blew up with excitement for more LGBTQ+ stories centering Tim. Not only did the announcement of this special get fans amped up, but a beautiful variant cover by Travis Moore depicting Tim cuddling with his new boyfriend Bernard Dowd has received a lot of positive attention on Twitter.
Tim coming out as bisexual was a huge moment for LGBTQ+ DC fans, not only because it is very meaningful to have a major comics publisher make a classic character queer instead of just creating a whole new one, but also because Tim's bisexuality has been teased for years in the comics. While Robin has had some stories scattered throughout the Urban Legends series, DC Pride: Tim Drake Special will be the first time his coming out plotline will be collected in one book and it will also include an entirely new adventure teaming him up with his former Young Justice team and the newly formed Batgirls crew.

The variant cover by Travis Moore is honestly a big deal for LGBTQ+ comics fans because even though the queer community is seeing more and more representation in both mainstream and independent comics, there is still a long way to go for genuine, sustainable representation of queer identities. Putting Tim and Bernard in a very intimate and loving embrace on the cover of a comic is important, it shows that DC is not trying to hide their character's sexualities or queer romances, and it also hits back at critics who say comics should «not
