Like Thanos, Thor: Love and Thunder's Gorr the God Butcher is a being that holds an enormous amount of power as his name suggests. Even though Thor is a god, it makes perfect sense for Thor to wield a powerful weapon against Gorr. Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) was introduced to the MCU in the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer. In the comics, Gorr's story starts three thousand years in the past on a harsh, famine- and poverty-stricken planet where the people pray to the gods for relief. When Gorr's wife and children die of starvation, he vows to plan revenge on the gods for their callous indifference. He bonds with a weapon called All-Black the Necrosword and uses this power to destroy every god he meets.

Gorr's powers may make him even more powerful than Thanos. This makes Gorr the God Butcher a perfect villain to redeem Thor after his Infinity War blunder.
