There are now 8 new Star Wars games in development thanks to Uncharted creator Amy Hennig
Uncharted creator Amy Hennig has been given a new chance to work on a Star Wars game, bringing the grand total of upcoming tie-ins to eight.
You might have though that Amy Henning would recoil at the thought of working on a new Star Wars game, given the last one ended up being cancelled by EA and saw her leave the company and developer Visceral Games eventually shut down.
She sounds keener than ever to give it a second go though, as a new project is announced at her Skydance New Media studio, that will be a narrative driven ‘richly cinematic action adventure game’.
It won’t be exactly the same game as the ill-fated Project Ragtag, since EA will still own the majority of the development work, but given it’s the same director it’ll probably be another Uncharted style adventure.
There’s disagreement on exactly how far along Project Ragtag got, which was originally intended to be an open world game and then was refocused as a more linear adventure that sounded an awful lot like Uncharted in space.
At the time, EA came under heavy criticism for cancelling it because it was single-player only, although they’ve since denied that was the reason and other reports have suggested it was simply because work was stalling and not enough progress was being made.
There’s no further indication of what exactly the new game is, with no name or any hint at a release date, but Hennig certainly seems keen on working on more Star Wars.
‘I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,’ she said. ’I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.’
