The Sonic movie’s producer is working on a live action Pac-Man
A live action Pac-Man movie is currently in development, it’s claimed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the big screen adaptation of the arcade classic will be based on an original idea by Chuck Williams, the producer behind Sega’s successful Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
Williams will produce the Pac-Man movie alongside his company Lightbeam Entertainment, and Wayfarer Studios, it’s claimed.
Pac-Man is one of the most iconic video games of the 1980s and continues to spawn new titles more than 40 years since its debut in arcades.
Last month Bandai Namco released Pac-Man Museum+, a 14-game compilation that unites games from across the history of the Pac-Man series.
By completing missions, players are able to win arcade machines and other decorations for their virtual arcade within the game.
And Bandai Namco announced during June’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase that it was working on Pac-Man World Re-Pac, a modernised version of the 1999 PlayStation platformer.
The game sees Pac-Man trying to rescue his friends, who have been kidnapped by the ghosts and being held in Ghost Island. Pac-Man has to make his way through six worlds to find them.
In a move that has disappointed fans, Ms Pac-Man appears to have been completely removed from the remake due to rights issues.
