The biggest system change of 10.1 has certainly been the new upgrade system! In this week's GG WoW video, Dratnos and Tettles talk about how the system has worked out, what it means for the future of the patch and the game, and what changes should be made going forward. The overall consensus has been very positive around the new system, with gear feeling attainable and Normal and Heroic raid feeling massively more worthwhile for gearing than previous seasons.
Mythic plus gearing has also been massively buffed, with so many more upgrades possible than the early season Valor caps allowed previously. It's also been accompanied by increased tier acquisition through the omni tokens added this patch, though Dratnos and Tettles would like to see further tier acquisition added in for Mythic plus players.
Dratnos has three changes that he thinks should definitely be made to the system, but they are all pretty minor tweaks. First off, he thinks that when you're capped on a certain type of Crest Fragments, you should earn a lower type when you complete the content that would reward the one you're capped on.
This has been a common suggestion and Blizzard has already hinted that they're looking into this for next season. Secondly, you should be able to roll need on Hero gear if you have higher ilvl Champion gear of that item already, since it can upgrade higher.
It seems intuitive that it should work this way, but there have been reports of it not allowing you to press need in these cases, but those may have been bugs. Thirdly, the bag space situation is unnecessary, and the currency tab is a better place to go rather than permanently taking up 8 of our precious bag slots!
