Overwatch fans got their first taste of Overwatch 2 during the first PvP Beta, which was well received and left players wanting more. Thankfully, those hungry fans won’t have to wait much longer. Blizzard has confirmed the release date for the next Overwatch 2 beta. On June 28 Overwatch 2 will be playable again. That’s just two weeks from now.
There are a few key differences between this beta and the first PvP beta. The second beta introduces a new hero, the Junker Queen. She was unveiled at the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022 event where Blizzard also confirmed that Overwatch 2 will be free to play. Furthermore, this second beta will introduce a new map that fans haven’t seen before.
Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly what the Junker Queen does or what the new map will be. As previously announced, a big reveal stream for Overwatch 2 is coming on June 16. That’s when we’ll find out more about both this beta and the game as a whole. The thought of finally getting to try out the Junker Queen is exciting, as she has been a part of Overwatch‘s lore since the early days.
But with the second beta already receiving its release date, what can we expect from the upcoming Overwatch 2 event? At the very least, another hero reveal seems like a safe bet. During the Release Date Reveal trailer a fox girl hero was teased. It looks as though she will be the first support added to Overwatch since Baptiste in 2019. Otherwise, we might get a look at the PvE content since Blizzard hasn’t mentioned it in a while.
After so many years of Blizzard neglecting Overwatch, it began to feel like we were never going to get the promised sequel. And yet yesterday’s trailer didn’t just confirm the newest hero but even gave us an official release date.
